Southern Flounder Linocut Art Print | Hand Carved and Hand Printed | 11x14 inch

USD40.00

This print is inspired by the coastlines of North Carolina and South Carolina. Perfect for coastal decor, or those who love to fish!

Growing up fishing on the barrier islands of South Carolina, I was always intrigued by flounder, and how one of their eyes migrates to join the other, as they adapt to lying flat on the sea floor, awaiting their prey, and camouflaging themselves from predators. For me, my Southern Flounder print is part nostalgia, and part reminder of adaptation and perseverance, especially when I feel I am "floundering."

This Southern Flounder is 6x10.5 inches, printed on 11x14 Japanese Kozo mulberry paper. The Kozo paper is lovely in texture and well-suited for printmaking, yet it's delicate, so please handle with care while framing.
The design was hand carved from a linoleum block, then printed by hand, making each print unique and perfectly imperfect. No two prints will be exactly alike. Relief printing is all about the process, and creates charming handcrafted artwork.
