The Process
This is a two-block reduction linocut print. One block was used for the dogwood flowers and another for the dragonfly. Each block was carved twice and printed twice to create the four layers of the image. You can see the progression of the carving and printing process in the listing photos.
Watercolor paint was then used by hand to add subtle details, including the green centers of the dogwood flowers and delicate shading on the petals.
Because of the reduction printing process, the blocks have been permanently carved away as the layers were printed. Only 11 prints were made, and this edition can never be reproduced.
